Geraldton Mole and Skin Cancer Clinic (GMSCC)

At our clinic, we pride ourselves on having highly trained and experienced nurses specializing in skin cancer detection and care, all holding postgraduate certifications. Dr. Kumar and Dr. Cockerill are accredited by the Skin Cancer College of Australasia, with Dr. Cockerill serving a Fellow and Dr. Kumar currently working towards this distinction. We offer both surgical and non-surgical approaches to skin cancer and precancerous lesions, ensuring personalized care tailored to your needs. Our purpose-built Moles room is equipped with state-of-the-art technology to facilitate comprehensive and evidence-based skin cancer detection.

Daylight Photodynamic Therapy (PDT)

 

PDT represents an advanced medical treatment that combines a light-sensitive agent with natural sunlight to effectively address various skin conditions, including certain skin cancers and pre-cancerous lesions. Unlike PDT, which relies on intense lamps, Daylight PDT utilizes sunlight to activate the medication, thereby providing a more convenient and accessible option for patients. This innovative therapy has gained recognition for its efficacy and minimal invasiveness, offering a promising alternative for individuals seeking less aggressive treatment options. is imperative for patients to consult with their healthcare providers to determine the most appropriate course of for their specific conditions.

Cryotherapy (Liquid Nitrogen)

Cryotherapy involves using extreme cold to freeze and remove abnormal tissue. It’s a safe and effective treatment for many skin conditions, including warts, skin tags, and some types of skin cancer. Cryotherapy may also be used in other areas of medicine to treat prostate, cervical, and liver cancers. This treatment is sometimes called cryoablation.

Fluorouaracil/Calcipotriol Cream

Fluorouracil (5-FU) and Calcipotriol is a combination cream used to treat sun-damaged skin and precancerous lesions (such as solar keratoses). The two medicines work together to destroy abnormal cells and boost your immune system’s response to help prevent future damage.

Treatment is usually applied for a short course under medical supervision and may cause redness, crusting, or irritation. These are normal signs that the treatment is working.

Our doctors and skin cancer nurses can assess your skin and provide guidance on whether this treatment is appropriate for you.

GP Chronic Condition Management Plan (GPCCMP)

 

Our dedicated experienced care plan nurses are here to support your chronic care needs with a holistic and collaborative approach. Working closely you, your GP, and any other caregivers, we a personalized care plan tailored to your unique lifestyle. If needed, we will collaborate with external health providers to gain access to subsidized allied health services as part of the GP Chronic Conditions Management Plan.

Nurse Services

Our experienced nurses provide a range of clinical and treatment room services, including:

  • Chronic and post-operative wound care

  • Removal of sutures and staples

  • Spot checks and monitoring of skin lesions

  • Cryotherapy assistance

  • Triage of acute concerns for GP review

  • Management of minor injuries and dressings

  • INR, Blood pressure, blood glucose, and ECG checks

  • Immunisations and flu vaccinations

  • Specimen collection (wound swabs, urine, etc.)

  • Instrument cleaning and sterilisation

  • Photodynamic Therapy

Iron Infusions

Your GP will order iron infusions based on your blood results, ensuring a tailored approach to your care. During the procedure, our experienced nurses will supervise you for 30 minutes in the clinic, providing support and comfort. We're here to make your experience as smooth as possible. Venesections

 

At our facility, we offer venesections tailored to your blood results, primarily for with those who have haemochromatosis.

Our experienced nurses will manage and monitor your treatment in a dedicated room, ensuring your safety and comfort throughout the process. Your health is our priority, and we are here to support you every step of the way.
